PROFILE OF ENGR. CHUKWUDI EZUGU FNSE, FNICE, MASCE, MNIM, KSM (ICHIE ANYAOHA N’ UMUNDU, UDENU ENUGU STATE) Engr. Chukwudi Ezugu was born on 12th June 1967 as the fourth child of Late Chief Raymond and Late Mrs Susana Ezugu, both of whom were teachers. He started his early education at Orba Central School in 1973 and subsequently attended the famous St Teresa’s College Nsukka having scored the maximum aggregate 36 in his common entrance examination in 1978 and was given an opportunity to select Secondary school of his choice. He finished his secondary school in 1983 with excellent grade (Distinction in six subjects and credit in two subjects out of the eight subjects he registered in WASCE). He gained admission into and studied Civil Engineering at the then Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) now Enugu State University of Science & Technology (ESUT) between 1983 and 1988. He graduated as the best student of the Department winning the UTC prize. Engr. Chukwudi Ezugu holds a Masters in Engineering (M.Eng), Structural Engineering (FUTO), Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Masters in Management (MSc) (UNIPORT). Between September 1988 and August 1989, he did his National Youth Service (NYSC) at Ikere Ekiti L.G.A headquarter in the old Ondo State and earned honours award and certificate of commendation from the NYSC. He began his working career in September 1989 as a site Engineer with Bechtel Nigeria Ltd. (an indigenous construction company based in Enugu) and was involved in the Erosion Control works along Jos-Akwaga road executed by the lower Benue River Basin Development Authority. In 1992 he joined Cedar & Olive Ltd. an engineering services company in the oil and gas industry where he rose from the position of project engineer to the position of General Manager in 1998. He left the company in 1999 and founded VIRGIL PROJECTS & ENGINEERING SERVICES LTD undertaking several design and construction works for Port Harcourt Refinery Co Ltd, Eleme Petro Chemical Co Ltd., Shell Petroleum Development Co Ltd. etc. In 2006, he founded and became the Managing Consultant/CEO of VC Consulting Ltd. and have undertaken several major projects including the design and supervision of 42km Ukwugba Junction-Etekuma-Umuapu Road with two span bridges, Design and Supervision of 18km Okwelle-Isikensi-Ntueke Road and Erosion Control Works, the reclamation work at Opuama and Fantua in Bayelsa State, Design and Supervision of several roads and bridges in Rivers, Bayelsa, Imo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Enugu and Anambra States, Canalization works in Ondo State as well as public buildings. He is also the founder of Primeprojects Construction Co Ltd., and Primescape Properties Ltd. involved in Civil Infrastructure, real estate development and facility management. In 1999, Engr. Chukwudi Ezugu has conducted many research works including; 1. Development of software for structural analysis of multi-span, multi-storey reinforced concrete structures 2. Mathematical model for the prediction of mechanical properties of quarry dust concrete 3. Road maintenance and management and performance of Federal Roads Maintenance Agency in Nigeria, case study of Rivers State. He has delivered several lectures in many Engineering fora. He attended many international workshops and trainings including Leadership training at London School of Business and Economics (2011), Connecting Africa (Transportation Infrastructure (2015)) and training in sustainable building materials and construction technologies in Cape Town South Africa (2015), in addition to numerous technical and managerial/conferences in Nigeria. He attended the American Society of Engineers (ASCE) conferences in 2019 and 2022. He has also attended all Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) conferences from 2010 to date.
